I find it funny...all drawings I see tend to have a scale noted on them..right beside that is a note stating DO NOT SCALE this drawing.
In terms of trusting people to do their work related tasks though..I do get why people don't. The paranoid guy who takes forever to do things often pays for himself by finding that one thing you, or someone else glanced over. I can't count the number of times I've found mistakes in people's work by chance. About 4 years ago I spent 6 months fixing a job that a junior guy said was checked and good to go. One of the owners took a quick glance at it and noticed a few things, than asked me to take a look, after 4 hours, my report was that there was more things not done right than were done right. Truthfully the times I've had the worst issues is when I did trust others. Things tend to go most wrong when you ask someone why did you do this, and the answer is well so and so told me to do this...more often than not when you chase down that trail, you will find that someone did something wrong at the start and as they say...bleep goes down hill. Even for myself, when someone reviews my work and doesn't find anything...that's when I worry that I missed something major.
