Here's the problem with going by avg...Newton is hot and cold this year his avg is brought up by 1 or 2 weeks where he hits 30 but then follows that with a an 8 , where as Manning's avg is near the same weekly. I find in most FFLs what you look for is consistency. That will give you a better W-L record over the year. Sure you may blow out an opponent here and there with Newton's big weeks but for crap weeks he ends up costing you.
I went through the same thing with Vick last year after his big 2010 and it drove me nuts.
