In my CP league Newton has put up 81.06 fantasy points in 5 games (avg 16.21) while Eli has put up 106.38 in 6 games (17.73). That's not significantly different. The big difference is that Newton can easily start putting up bigger numbers while Eli will most likely maintain the current pace.
Their average output is extremely close but Newton has much more upside.
Not to mention Gronk was one of the two TE's who were heads above everyone else last season.
