Furniture over vents??

how old is the furnace?? CFM values may be lower on older models and have less airflow distribution causing a colder house.

Let me know regardless
Thanks for the info Keith. Yeah, pretty sure I'm using the Filtrete pleated filter. What's the best type to use?

I've already closed off the other vents including the basement vents. The vents are clear of furniture (except for one, but it's a book shelf with about 4" clearance under it). It's an 8 year old house, so I would think that the furnace should have proper airflow, but who knows. Maybe they undersized it. I bought booster registers that are supposed to kick on when they sense heat, but they don't work worth a damn. Way too finicky. Is there a way to get more air flow without replacing the whole shebang? It feels like when the furnace kicks on, there is barely any flow through even when basically all other vents are closed.
