I had my Wisdom's pulled a few weeks ago (during reading week for the U of C), mine didn't really swell up except for one day, didn't feel any pain or anything of that sort. Basically I got off really good.
The holes are basically filled now as well, once you feel you can start stretching out your jaw and you're sure the stitches are gone then you may want to wash out the holes with that syringe they give you.
In terms of real food I didn't really start to eat solid, solid food for a week. Basically I lived off instant noodles, and pudding for that time being.
Basically the holes don't fill in for a while, so keep 'em clean with that syringe, otherwise you'll have food jammed in the back there, but take it really slow, better screw yourself over temporarily then have to start the recovery procedure all over again.
