I guess it is debatable, it meets 4 out of 5 criteria for sure. The 5th criteria is whether or not his actions were of astoundingly stupid judgment? I would say he was foolish for partaking in an action whereas it is common, however, to the extent where his actions were extraordinary and not common.
I suppose a sensational headline makes me think it is a Darwin Award worthy, but I can see how it wouldn't be.

Well, I guess techincally if he was over-doing it terms of the number of cockroaches he was putting down, then he could probably qualify.
