Here's an article from a few days ago which all-but-confirms what some of us have known for awhile - that the WestLRT will open on December 10th as originally planned.

Quote:
Calgary Transit is signing up CTrain operators to launch the west LRT line on Dec. 10, their union president confirmed Thursday.

That’s the date former mayor Dave Bronconnier originally promised that trains would start new six-station leg — but construction woes on the nearly $1.5-billion line pushed the due date into next March. After some intensive work by the contractor and good weather this summer, the train line is back on schedule.

Signs have gone up at the city’s Spring Gardens transit garage, to organize shifts for the train’s launch.

“It’s supposed to go to service Dec. 10,” said Mike Mahar, president of Amalgamated Transit Union 583. “We’ve been in discussions with management. We have union reps on the sign-up, and their job is to peruse the sign-up to make sure it complies with the collective bargaining agreement.”

Also, 7th Avenue downtown is closed to C-Train traffic this long weekend as well as next weekend. This closure is to complete work which will tie the West LRT line into the electrical and signals systems for the rest of the network. Catenary (overhead wire) is being strung between 10th and 11th Streets SW.

Basically after next weekend, as far as the signals, communications, etc. systems are concerned, West LRT is fully integrated into the rest of the LRT network.
