The Calgary Flames go Duck Hunting in the first round of the playoffs.
Flames go into the series on a losing note, having lost to the LA Kings by a score of 5-2. This is not a way to enter the playoffs but the game meant nothing in terms of standings, so GM Axmann told his players to "foregetta bout it" and look to the Ducks.
The season series sees the Flames go 4-0 against the Ducks. However this is the playoffs and seasons series mean nothing. Its the next season and the Flames look at putting the Ducks away as early as possible. Flames Gm Axmann told media that his team was getting long in the tooth and that any long series would just make his old players tired. So Axmann told his team to giddy up and make short order of the Ducks. Peking Ducks that is.
Flames playoff hopes rest solely on the shoulders of Puck Stop Miikka Kiprusoff. "With Kiprusoff in net, the Flames are clearly shooting for the stars!!, Axmann was quoted a saying.
As Miikka goes, so do the Flames, to quote another old GM and Commish.
However, if Miikka struggles, we have a very capable back up in Brian Boucher.
Flames also look toward new comer Teemu Selanne to help in the offensive department. Flames feel that they have 4 good scorers on the team and two individuals who can get those scorers the puck.
Defence looks solid and they are probably one of the strong suits of the Flames.
The team is very strong with experience, hopefully this "experience" will take us pass the Ducks and deep into the playoffs.
