For the bolded part. C'mon man... you are acting like I am shaking down little old ladies on the street corner for their change purse. The following story may shock you. I lived in a sub division for years. I'd often times go out for walks late at night to smoke a doobie or a few cigs(when i smoked) before bed, around 9 or 10 o'clock at night. And 1 time I came across an open garage. Now get ready for this part... I walked up the drive way... Passed the open garage door (looked inside and the lawnmower was already gone) and knocked on the door. Once the person answered the door I politely informed them they left their garage door open. Shocking, right? There are many other instances of good samaritan deeds i've done. I could go over a whole list of things that I believe are right and wrong. I don't want to type it out and you don't want to read it. This may surprise you, but I do indeed have a moral compass. Mine is different then yours. And your is different then Suzy Q's, and Suzy Q's is different then John Doe's etc etc. Your jump from paying less at self checkouts to me stealing from an open garage door is ridiculous. I guess i should have worded my reasoning better, I forgot this is the internet and people nit pick everything.

I enjoy taking advantage of a situation brought forth by big box chains because I feel that they take advantage of consumers all the time. Is that more clear? You can completely disagree with that, and its fair of you to do so as many people do. I understand why you would disagree with that, and do see your point. However your jump from that, to me stealing from someones garage is just absurd. Feel free to nit pick that statement and turn it into me doing some horrible things, and I'll try and make it more clear in a future post.

I highly doubt that you or anyone in this thread can look in the mirror and say that they have never ever broken any laws or done anything one could view as immoral. Does that make what I do right? Nope, not at all. What I do is not a the heinous crime you make it out to be.

I know man, I am whats wrong with society eh? I've worked full time my entire adult life. Even working two min wage jobs when times were real tough refusing to be on welfare like soooooo many people. I pay my taxes every year. I pay all my bills on time. God forbid if there are more people that live their life like me because sometimes I pay 20 cents per dinner roll instead of 35 cents. Or I want to pay $1.99/lb for all my bell peppers instead of $2.99/lb for the coloured ones. Yes... I'm the scourge of society, lol.

Your guess of $10 a week is way off. Its significantly less then that. I wont break it all down by that is a high number for me. I don't use self check outs that often at all. Realistically tho, if its 50 cents or 10 dollars a week, does it matter? You are obviously upset by the actual action then the dollar amount.

Since I read and posted in this thread, I thought about why I do it. I don't need the money as the actual monetary value is very low. When I really thought about why I do it, it basically comes down to the fact I think its funny. It makes me giggle. I get a kick out of the fact these big stores allow us people to scan our own stuff. I think its absolutely ridiculous how I get to shop at a store and then scan it and bag it on my own. So guess what? I'm going to mess up how I scan things. My bad.

As for getting caught. Big whoop. Nothing will happen. I wont be embarrassed. I'll likely have a little fun with it. I'm paying something for the stuff, I just don't happen to be paying full price. There are sales everyday at the self check out.

I feel very little sympathy towards the big box chains that implement things like this just to save a few bucks. I'll never apologize or feel bad for taking advantage of things like this that the big companies provide. They bend over consumers on a daily basis far more then I could ever make up for, so I really don't see the big deal. I do respect why you and many others disagree. However, your assertion that my attitude is whats wrong with society is an absolute joke. There are many many many many many other things that are wrong with are society then some person who finds it funny to purposely scan things wrong to save very little money. My attitude is not even in same ball field of the list of things that are wrong with society.
Let me get this straight. "Big Box Stores" have been ripping people off for too long, so now you're going to Robin Hood their ass (because you once worked for minimum wage ).
I just don't know how you find justification here. What are "Big Box Stores" doing to you? Are they bending you over like Big Pharma? Big Oil? Big Macs? At first we were talking about Superstore. What did Superstore do to you besides offer a service that you can choose to use? If you have a beef with Superstore or any other store that is too big, go find a fu**ing mom&pop grocery store to shop at.
Also, what's your problem with self checkouts? Maybe they're being offered as an alternative to folk like me who really don't want to partake in the "How are you today" "Fine, thank you" chit chat. I love the self checkouts because I don't have to talk to anyone, and I'm guaranteed not to have my bread crushed by a spaced out cashier. So how are these stores bending us over by offering an alternative?

I just don't get you. You're a petty thief, and you're proud of it. You're too cheap to pay what things cost, and you justify it by hating a company because it makes money. And you're not even entirely convinced that what you're doing isn't wrong, so you give a half assed excuse by saying that there are bigger problems in society. Yeah yeah, why bother with a thief at Superstore when there is a murder to solve, right?
