The idea was to leverage the cross section of Government Officials and also the Tourism industry big wigs who would all be at the Games. From what I recall there was only one event that ministers went to associated with the Olympic games.

From what I understand (from sources within the government).... Redford was the only premier in the country that went to London.
Not sure why, but that fact creates an "it figures" response.
