Here’s the astounding argument; this is how they turn a huge, useless expense into a “saving.”
Eighteen people who were delegated to go to London did not go.
And why not?
Because the government wanted to save money.
But . . . but . . . $113,000 that was spent on rooms for them is lost forever. How is that a “saving?”
Because, the government people say, $123,000 was not spent as a result of the people not going.
Then they smile. Wasn’t that smart of us?
Government people blithely make such arguments all the time. It can even make you think you’re missing something
