I use the same software as Regulator (after he recommended it to me upon my request for what he was using).
It's pretty slick and easy to use... sure lots of P&S's and Phone Cameras can do it in camera, but I like to be able to work with RAW files, so Autopano Giga is great to toss everything in after a trip through Lightroom.
Here two similar pics from today (scrambled Bow Peak... successfully this time. Last time up with the wife, she had to turn back before the summit).
One taken with my DSLR, processed in Lightroom and assembled with Autopano Giga.... the other taken with the iPhone5's new pano feature (straight out of the camera, I did nothing to it).
The DSLR/Lightroom version is heavily processed and looks more like a painting than a photo. Not the best lighting today (flat, grey, cloudy, etc), so you do what you can.
