Not exactly, but made me think of this:

An ex-boyfriend of mine was drunk one night and took his dad's truck out for a spin (yes, drunk driving is bad, but this was in a time when it wasn't frowned on as much as it is now...)
Dad called the police to report the truck stolen. The cops pulled up behind the truck with their lights on. The ex had previously been to jail (yes, I dated some reputable men) and I guess didn't want to go back.
So in a drunken incoherent state grabbed his dad's gun from the back (dad was a hunter I think? that's why there was a gun in the vehicle) and killed himself.
To this day, I think his dad blames himself for the death of his son. If he had only known it was his son that had taken the truck, and if he didn't call the police and if he didn't have his gun in the truck, maybe his son would be here today.
Sad.
