To be honest, you seem to fall into the irrationally hating Apple crowd. Yes they came out with a new connector. You have to admit the functionality of the reversibility of the plug, and future proofing is kinda neat. That said, no one here is saying "buy the iPhone 5 because of this new plug it's the shiznit!" people in a thread about the iPhone 5 have mentioned its benefits (which it does have) and that the media hate is exaggerated. I don't see why you need to point out the drawbacks that we all know and don't even affect some of us, while dismissing the benefits.
Personally, new or old adapter I'd be in the same boat. I'd have to buy all new accessories anyway. Even if they went with micro-USB I'd need new ones.
One final thought before bed. This is just to show that I'm not drinking the Apple Kool-Aid

I still prefer the S3, it's back button, the larger screen and it's widgets. Too bad the apple maps are not all correct but that 3d map looks pretty awesome.
