Doesn't the EU mandate micro-USB? I wonder how Apple gets around that, unless that was just an urban legend. I just made sense that phone OEMs wouldn't have switched away from their profitable "You need a new car charger for every new phone" scheme unless forced to.

The EU does mandate it, but anyone can get around that mandate by making an adapter available.
