That Mason save is hilarious.
Anyway, they WILL tweak the goalies. The perfect goalie is the thing they came up with this year so that they can start from there and adjust to allow certain goals to go in some of the time. So they can turn down the awesome on the diving cross-crease saves pretty easily, and fix exploits at the same time. For example, goalies let in shots from really sharp angles a LOT, to the extent that I was playing EASHL this weekend and one dude would, on every rush, skate down until he was a bit short of the icing line and snap a wrister far side top corner. Scored with about 33% effectiveness.
That said, I don't mind the supergoalies on the cross-crease so much, because it forces you to do other things - look for point shots, snipe off the wing, or go for rebounds off the pads, a lot more than last year. What bugs me isn't the goalie stops, it's the fact that more than 50% of the time if you try to do a one-timer, the guy will either miss the net or whiff on the puck completely. They're like 8 year olds, unable to time the shot for the life of them. The passing is also way off, you'll miss a lot of the time where you're trying to pass, and with the defensive improvements, the game actually disincentivizes passing. That's not a great situation for EASHL - I already was hesitant to look for the pass because interceptions kill your team play rating.
