Bent Wookie

Recently I purchased some vintage stereo equipment including a vintage Thorens turntable. It's something I've always wanted to do.

So far things are going great and I've been immersed in researching mods and upgrades for my gear. However I find it, due to my limited technical experience, a little overwhelming.

Does anyone have experience in this area? Specifically, some good online, especially local communities that I could seek information from. Also, are there any good repair and service shops for items like my thorens?
