It really was unpleasant. I fully know that it was the right time and all that... but what a miserable day. The staff and the vet were great.
Unless you feel you must be there, maybe say your goodbyes at home or at a park; and have someone else do the clinical part. Maybe for some that last memory is unnecessary.

What I mean is that after my wife had our cat put down a few years back, they decided to send an card with a tuft of his hair a few weeks later.
A nice gesture but she and my kids were starting to move on and then this...
Kinda brought everything back again...
