I really like Agricola, but it is very much a solitaire game in a multiplayer environment. There's not a lot of interaction when you use the "easy" cards and some people find that boring.
The learning curve isn't that high, but it is difficult to pick up on the strategy in the first game, so the last few turns can be frustrating for new players.
Agricola shines when you have experienced players and use the "complicated" decks.
