Oh my god, the polar bears. How will the world continue without them?

Seriously, though. Are they going to go extinct because we drill for oil in their backyard? Grizzlies haven't. I know, terrible comparison, but I do wonder why we're so hung up on the idea of certain species going extinct. Millions of species went extinct before we decided to burn their remains to propel our vehicles. We better start burning a few more if we ever expect to break out of this one planet solar system.
