I think Amoxicyllyn (sp?) is the best thing for strep throat by a mile. I've had that nasty thing a few times especially when I was younger, and I'm allergic to pennicyllyn. They used to give me Erythromycin for it after my penicyllyn alergies were discovered, but it wasn't particularly effective. But after beig treated with Amoxicycyllyn the last two times and within 30 hours I felt much better.
As for what to do when you have it, chicken soup, tea, my mom's canned raspberry fruit all seem to be good for me. Which reminds me I should go home for a visit and raid mom's pantry for some medical supplies.

I just finished up a brawl with strep a couple weeks back. I waited a week before I made it to see the Dr. The pain was out of control. Couldn't even swallow my own saliva. Cepical(sp?) or T3's weren't fazing me. Dr prescribed Amoxicyllyn(allergic to penicyllyn) and it started to break within 24 hours. Complete hell it was.
