When I was a teenager on a canoe trip I was goofing off and my canoe was pulled under a sweeper (a tree hanging horizontally across the water) - I thought I was going to drown.
About a year ago I felt really lightheaded, dizzy, short of breath and nauseous all of a sudden. I thought I was having a heart attack without chest pain. After getting a bunch of tests at the hospital they concluded it was just a reaction to a virus combined with stress but I was pretty scared at the time.
Like a few others here my kids have given me a few scares too, particularly my son. He used to hold his breath until he turned blue when he got upset, and also had a couple of nasty tumbles down the stairs.
