Can you suggest any "beginner" type models? I did some target shooting last year at Shooting Edge and we had a lot of fun with the hand-guns they provided. I don't remember the types. "Same if not similar to what the police use", as I seem to remember them saying.
As well, what are the requirements for storing a hand-gun in the home? Types of storage? Etc?

If they said that, you were shooting the glock. If you were shooting their glock, it was a POS

.....As for "beginner" type pistols, the best suggestion is to go with a .22 calibre pistol, such as the GSG.22 , the Chiappa .22, or a Walther P22, or a CZ75 Kadet. They are all like their bigger brothers, but they teach you proper control, trigger pull, flinch control, all with the benefit of buying 500+rds of ammo for about $25. Can't beat that! You likely will never get rid of it because they still are a blast to shoot, and they're great for taking girls out and introducing them to the sport.
Requirements for storage are a locked container for the pistol, a trigger lock for the pistol when its in that locked container, and thats about it. The post I had up with the transport regulations also outlines the storage requirements for the firearms. Have a look over it!
And remember, its an expensive hobby, and firearms magically multiply with no real reason
