Transport of non restricted firearms is quite lax. Unloaded is all it needs to be! Restricted firearms are obviously more strict, requiring an authorization to transport, trigger lock, and locked container out of sight.
I've been in that same scenario you outline, had to wait for RCMP to come put down a deer I had struck.....Unfortunately I can't say with any certainty that you would not be in some sort of trouble for putting down an injured animal? Its a pretty big grey area against most discharge regulations.....I hate seeing animals suffer aswell

So I can transport an unrestricted firearm as long as it is unloaded? Does it have to be out of sight? As a kid I remember seeing trucks with a gun rack in the cab, and guns on them. I haven't seen that in years, so I'm wondering if it's now illegal.
