I suppose you could carry a firearm (ie. rifle) as long as it was concealed, empty, and had a trigger lock on it... not 100% positive on this though.

Discharging it along a highway or roadway would be another kettle of fish though. THAT would get you into trouble with the law.

P.S. I once tried to kill a injured deer (hit by a car) with a hunting knife which I carry in my jeep. That didn't go well. I think it caused a lot more stress and pain in the deer than if I hadn't tried to do anything... and I didn't even get a chance to stab it. Just my getting close caused the deer to thrash about violently, causing it further pain (it had a broken leg and a head injury).
It died on its own a few minutes later, thank god.
