As KevanGuy mentioned they don't read every post or every thread so it gives me a better idea of who may be a problem. I personally use the report function when I see something I don't like, if the mods don't agree I move on, but at least it's been reported instead of a thread being derailed about my feelings on a certain post which happens too much around here IMHO.

I see your point. Personally I would like to see two people just fight it out and handle it themselves.. But as you said sometimes you do get the wolf pack mentallity on here where you end up with a gang fight of one against the many and that is usually when tempers flair and things go from bad to worse and the next thing you know someone is suspended.
I believe there are posters on here who specialize in drive by insults who really tend to add nothing to threads other than to prove to everyone else how witty they are at the expense of someone else. Those are the ones who tend to exacerbate problems. They make it their mission in life to bait people.
I would certainly not be against regularly reporting their posts.
