I don't think you could really "just fish out" beds and sofas from a POD that is packed like a sardine can. Plus I can see not wanting to deal with any kind of moving the day before his wedding.
I do have a crazy idea- do you have any friends who cannot really afford a good wedding present? Get 3 or 4 of them and have them rent a U-Haul and move everything. Heck- even if you pay the ~$150 for the U-Haul and get them to chip in the labour for the wedding gift; everybody still comes out ahead.
