For such a short move between locations that, I am assuming, are under 1400sq ft, why bother with movers at all though?

They are $$$$.

I used one PODS container (packed like a sardine can) and a Kia Rio Hatchback (also packed like a sardine can) to move the contents of a 1500 sq ft home across the country.

I've used them for local moves as well. You do all the packing and unpacking yourself, but if you don't have the time to do everything in one day, it doesn't cost any more if you spend a week packing or unpacking.
