Just walk it across the border on your shoulder. You're allowed to have guns in the US, in fact I think its encouraged.
The border guys should see you coming carrying your gun proudly and be all like;
"Look at that guy and the way he carries his gun, hes definitely an American, no need to even check his passport, just wave him right on through. And then give him some ammo, hes gonna love ammo....."
