You should def get an MRI of the SI joint.
You sound like you have something similar to me. I had pain on and off over 4 years. The last stint of pain lasted for 8 months where I couldnt walk, sit, lay down on my back, or anything of the like without pain. I couldnt skate or play hockey either.
Mine turned out to be Anklyosing Spondylitis and piriformis syndrome. Basically inflammation of my spine, hips and SI joint, as well as piriformis muscle pain causing sciatic nerve pain.
Piriformis syndrome can be healed through physio for the most part, as well as regular stretching. A physio who knows how to treat this specific muscle (I went through 3 before him) is Dr. Shepard at the Shepard Health Clinic on Kensington road.
As for Anklyosing Spondilytis. I can only take anti-inflammitory medication for now until I get in to see a rheumatologist. From there I will most likely get injections for the rest of my life.
Both of these conditions are very hard to diagnose because there are much more common conditions that most doctors/physios jump to first. Hope this helps.
