The landlord should have had a rubber piece on the closet door where the front door handle meets the closet door so no damage is done when they meet. That's what they do when two doors can possibly hit each other. That sounds like negligence by the landlord.

It was my fault and in normal operation they shouldnt hit each other. I left the closet door open when my buddy tried to come in through the front they slammed together. Hasn't happened ever in the 2+ years I've lived there, but moving always results in this kind of crap. I'm quite willing to pay for the damage (and I would expect the same if I owned it) but I've just never had to deal with this type of issue, not being a homeowner.
