I've been lucky enough to go to three Winter Olympics. My dad volunteered in in 1988 (I was 9) and I got to go see Russia-Sweden in hockey. In 2002 my dad and I want to Salt Lake to see the Canada - Czech game and US - Belarus game. and in 2012 I went to Vancouver with three buddies for both semis, bronze, and gold medal game in hockey!!

Yes, the Olympics are expensive, but there is nothing that I've ever been to that could hold a candle to the excitement of an Olympics. All three cities were buzzing, super friendly, and some serious parties.

I dont think I'd ever do an Olympics as a tour group unless it was in Iraq or somewhere similar. There is no place safer to be than the Olympics becuase of the intense security.

Olympics are a bucket list event for me, and I would LOVE to go to Sochi in 2014 and Rio in 2016.

I've got a 2010 gold medal game-used puck in my mancave that I've put in a box with all my tickets. Easily one of my most treasured possessions.

Pragmatism is for boring people ;-)
