I generally dial down to 12 minutes/period (extended to 15-17 based on how many whistles I get. There's far too few). With a little tweaking, you get about 30-35 shots against/game (I can't tell you how many shots for you normally get. I have a "throw everything at the net" strategy that racks up 50-60 with a 4-5% scoring %)

Same. I micromanage strategy to even the most minute things and try to get a "real" feel to the game.
The killer so far is always the AI for Be a GM. In-game AI isn't horrible, but agents who demands long term max salary contracts and GMs who let go of great young players for nothing have to go.
