It depends which timezone one lives in when comparing time from the Olympic city. London is eight hours from Pacific time and I agree that for most of the work day people can watch events live until 1500h Pacific.

Sydney, Australia and Nagano, Japan were the worst with a 17 hour time difference. Seoul, South Korea has a 16 hour difference and Beijing, China has a 15 hour difference.

Sochi, Russia will have a twelve hour time difference during their winter games and will be four hours ahead of London because Sochi does not observe daylight saving time.
