There is rather strong evidence that the intellectual portions of an adolescent's brain matures well before the emotional portions. This is why you have kids doing dumb things like engaging in unprotected sex while being geniuses in certain academic subjects. Maybe it would make more sense to lower the voting age for kids while raising the age of consent. I would be interested in knowing more about how they come to decisions when deciding on legal ages.
