Just came across this video on LiveLeak, a pilot that clearly has no idea how density altitude works and can affect the performance of his aircraft, brutal:

I love how the video description talks about the cause being an "air pocket" that pushed the aircraft back down. Yup, that makes sense. You think the first two minutes of the video showing an airplane pretty much unable to climb out of ground effect before settling back down again just may have had more to do with it than an air pocket.

Found out some more info:

Aircraft is a Stinson 108
Field elevation is 6370' ASL
Closest weather station had a high temp of 29 that day
Assume only 20 degrees and density altitude was 8500'
Go with the 29 degrees and it becomes 9500'
