That was a ref who was out of her element and who was intimidated by Wambach. Legitimate strategy on her part, but as gutless as diving, really.

By "playing with fire", I mean holding the ball to 15-16 seconds, when the rule is 6 seconds. Did anyone time how long she had it before the penalty? I agree there should be a warning first. Did none of the Canadian players notice Wambach counting to the ref each time?
The Americans never had the lead until the very end, so I suppose that is why they would not get a delay of game call when Solo held the ball too long?
