Don't interpret my post as dismissing all mass gun shootings as an idiot problem instead of a gun problem.
A hate driven crime, if we can assume that this is with any certainty, will happen without guns. He could have driven his truck or into them as they were leaving services or loaded it up with explosives and drove it through the front entrance. I am sure he could have burned the place down far more easily.
While both of this event and the ones in Aurora/Columbine/Virginia Tech/etc were similar in outcomes, I don't classify them as being the same at all. Hate driven attacks in the US are not restricted to gun related, and the fact that guns were used is this attack is not overly relevant in my eyes.
