Seems to me like it is a dispute within the temple with possibly people disagreeing with the way the temple is being run.
That really could be the best case scenario instead of a Sikh temple being attacked by Christians, muslims or any other radical group. That would just set off a trainwreck of events.

Even if there was a dispute with in the Gurudwara, like politics (which I feel have not room in place of worship), I can't not see a member of the Sikh community taking kids hostage and killing innocent bystanders to make a point. In those kinds of unfortunate situations, usually members from different parties fight among themselves.
But that is beside the point, it has been reported the shooter was white, and this was clearly a hate crime. These ignorant individuals continue to confuse us for Muslims and continue to target Sikhs for that reason. Not saying they should be targeting Muslims either.
