Considering what he's looking for, I think a Juke is a solid option. I'm with you about the used cars being a great value that allows you to step into a much better car (which is why I will pretty much never buy a new car), but he's clearly down the path of new, so that's what we have to help the guy out with.

Sorry Oilkiller, I am very opinionated when it comes to cars and I don't worry about people's feelings on the Internet as much as I should.
Given all your criteria and the fact that you won't waffle on it, the Juke is indeed a very solid option.
