Keep in mind you're stepping into it from a Mustang. Most things will feel pretty gutless in comparison! I think for the category though, it's a fun car. Considering what he's looking for, I think a Juke is a solid option.

Hey, I hear you loud and clear. I'm with you about the used cars being a great value that allows you to step into a much better car (which is why I will pretty much never buy a new car), but he's clearly down the path of new, so that's what we have to help the guy out with.
