This is true, especially since MMO's die a hard death.
Games like UO and DAoC that had a large following (for their times) are still alive and playable with regular content upgrades and patches. Thats 14 or 15 years for UO, and 12 or 13 for DAoC... I think WOW is at about 9 so far?
Amazing the longevity these games can have when you find one that works.
