It also doesn't help continuously electing officials who act against the general populace's best interest in favour of corporate interests and lobbying groups best interests. Lobbying is truly the downfall of America. Which to bring a roundabout back to the topic at hand, no one has the balls to go up against the NRA, so gun rights will likely never change from their current status.

Continuously electing those officials happens because 99% of all political candidates in this country fit that description.
I'm not as hopeless on gun control mainly because there are many responsible gun owners who do not share the NRA's all or nothing mentaility on gun control. There is hope.
