Spoiler!
For example, a much more interesting 2nd act would have set Bane up as the overlord ruler of Gotham and really established him as a bad guy instead of the backseat position he weirdly claims. He then gets comfortable as the strongman of the clan and starts to question Thalia's plan. He then decides that I don't want to blow this city up, I'm going to stay here as the ruler showing division between him and Thalia. In the final act the three forces come together say with Thalia and her league of shadows warriors versus, Bane himself, versus Batman. Batman would do something that would trick Thalia into providing the key to defeating Bane and then Batman face's Thalia to disarm the bomb.
Bane would have also needed a reason for why he was so much better than Batman. The mask is the key piece. Sure they didn't want to cheese it up with venom but why have the mask at all? It wasn't a plot piece until the very end when it seemed terribly tacked on. Make the mask the reason for Bane's strength, or find another reason why he's so bad assed.
Dunno, thought that would have been a much better resolution and more true to the Bane character. Instead we get a patented Nolan twist which was there just to be there and instead made the movie worse.
