Hundreds (if not thousands) of flights all over the world every day, bound to be some one who slips through the cracks once in a while.

A few years ago I was on a flight to Winnipeg (going to Winnipeg!) and shortly after boarding there was some announcement to the effects of "Welcome to flight XXX with service to Winnipeg, we're just prepping the blah blah... and we'll be on our way".

As soon as they said Winnipeg the guy next me to perked up "Wait.. did she say Winnipeg?"
Me: "Uhh yeah"
Guy: "This plane isn't going to Montreal?"
Me: "Not that I know of..."

A flight attendent was walking by and the guy asked "Is this plane going to Montreal?"

Attendent: "No, this is Winnipeg... are you suppose to be on a Montreal flight?"

The guy quickly got up and exited the plane (door was still open) at this point, I have no idea how he managed to get onto the wrong flight with the standard "Show your ID, scan the ticket, check the ticket again etc" but he made it all the way to a seat on the plane before catching the announcement.

Tl:dr; stuff happens.
