The punishment is appropriate, but it wasn't the NCAA's place to do it. Their role is to prevent and punish actions that can give teams a competitive advantage, and the failings of Sandusky, Paterno and the three other guys who were involved didn't do that. If Sandusky's victims had won $60 million in a lawsuit, I'd applaud it, but this was nothing more than a PR stunt by the NCAA.

Having said that, whether it was proper or not, it makes me feel good to know that Paterno is no longer the winningest coach in college history.
