We scored.. we scored big with Baertschi.
Ugh, and heres a stupid question. How do you spell it. I've seen it spelled Baertschi, Bartschi, and Bartschi with two little dots above it. In the WHL, his jersey said Bartschi.. but while he was with us, it said Baertschi. On NHL 12, It's Bartschi. I saw the dots somewhere, maybe when he was on the WJC Swiss team? not sure.
I kind of want to compare Yakupov and Baertschi. So Baertschi rolled in 94 points in 47 games in the WHL which, from what I've seen, is more talented than the OHL. I mean, I know Gretzky, and Francis came out of the OHL (both from my hometown team, btw, which is awesome), but I go and watch Greyhound games on a regular basis and they aren't as talented as the WHL games I've watched. Sure, the west doesn't hold host to cities like Parry Sound, Sault Ste Marie, Belleville, Toronto, etc.. but at the moment players like Baertschi and Rattie and goalies like Brossoit, Glover.. doesn't seem like it compares much to the ohl.
Anyways.. So if Baertschi rolled in 94 in 47 and Yakupov 69 in 42, that means that clearly Baertschi performed better.
Now, I know Yakupov got 102 last season, in 65 games. I think Baertschi would have gotten more than that had he that many more games. Now Baertschi did much better this season than last, but both performances were incredible. I think the drafting and being given a year more to develop was great for him. But how will Yakupov react? I mean, will his bad end to the season effect him? Or will his being drafted first give him a boost to make an immediate effect in the NHL?
