Bobcats eat chickens and family cats. Wild dogs are not a problem where I live so I can't speak to them. Cougars are a risk to family pets, livestock, and children. They even occasionally will take on a human. Coyotes threaten livestock, pets and children. There is only one recorded instant of them killing an adult in Canada. Wolves attack livestock and pets.

The problem in Colorado wasn't the ease in which weapons are had. It is the difficulty of identifying someone who is mentally ill and likely to snap. If he thinks he is the joker he was just as likely to blow something up or torture someone as to do what he did.
