This happened to me once and I had to get the motor replaced. Almost exact same facts.

The reason the motor wore out faster, I was told, was likely contributed to by a mis aligned path on the window, causing it to rub on the rubber bits, leading to a build up of gunk. It worked ok after the repair but was really awkward, especially in cold weather.
