You need enough damage to kill stuff reasonably quickly. Only you can guage what that is. White mobs shouldn't take more than a hit or 2, except the more beefy ones, IMHO. To this end, you need to get Int, Crit Damage, Crit chance. Once you have enough DPS to kill quickly for farming focus on survivability.
The easiest way to gauge survivablity is use Effective Heath Pool, which is a metric which takes all your HP, Armor and resists into account and figures out how effective it is, and converts it all into EHP. I use this calculator because it lets you know how many EHP you get for adding any further (str/dex/vit/resists) at the level you are. I did a post a page or 2 page that goes into further detail about this. Then you can easily see is the 100 vit better than 60 resist all, etc.
